Kombucha Sangria

December 24, 2015 By Carrots and Flowers

Feel better about your drinking with this Kombucha Sangria, a delightful mix of booze and probiotics! Homemade sangria is the perfect addition to any holiday party. It’s colorful, festive, and sure to be a huge hit. The added bonus of kombucha (a fermented probiotic tea) will cut down on the sugar and therefore your morning after hangover! It’s a win win.

I recommend using a cheap Spanish Tempranillo for the sangria. It’s got a bold, almost tangy flavor  that holds it’s own against the sweetness of the Triple Sec. I got this bottle at Trader Joe’s for only 4 bucks. My mom loves chickens (They are her spirit animal) and I was pretty pumped about the golden egg on the label, so this was clearly the perfect choice!

My favorite thing about this recipe is how quick it is to whip up! Most of the ingredients are probably already in your pantry or home bar. Wine, Brandy, Triple Sec, 2 apples, and an orange. Easy as pie. Just pick up a bottle of kombucha (or brew your own with instructions here!) and you are good to go.

[ingredients title=”Ingredients”]

  • 1 bottle cheap tempranillo red wine (or any red)
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup triple sec
  • 2 cups kombucha
  • 2 apples- 1 red, 1 green
  • 1 orange, unpeeled
  • dash of cinnamon (optional)

[/ingredients]

[directions title=”Directions”]

  1. Chop the fruit into small pieces and place in the bottom of a large pitcher. I like to set aside a slice or two of orange to use as a garnish before serving.
  2.  Combine the rest of the ingredients and give the mix a good stir. Enjoy!

Why not set up a pretty table display! Your kombucha sangria will be vibrant and gorgeous, so give it a nice back drop. I like to set out glasses with little orange slices and serve the sangria with ice on the side so the pitcher doesn’t get watered down.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated when you’re enjoying this drink! It is so light and delicious that it’s easy to guzzle a few glasses without realizing. To make it even less boozy, add another cup of kombucha. Enjoy!
